Quincy Boyd has been a minor league player and a scout.
Undrafted out of college, Boyd hit .217/.257/.406 in 22 games for the independent 1994 Ohio Valley Redcoats, making 7 passed balls at catcher. He drew interest from the Los Angeles Dodgers, who signed him for '95. He played 31 games for the Vero Beach Dodgers, batting .152/.253/.182 with four runs and one RBI. He split 1996 between the Redcoats (.102/.235/.184 in 35 G) and the New York Mets' Capital City Bombers (0 for 6, BB, 3 K). He finished his pro career with a weak batting line of .146/.244/.243 in 89 games, with 5 homers in 239 AB and 72 strikeouts. He fielded .977 in 59 games at catcher, with 13 passed balls and a 75% opponent steal rate. He also played 11 games at 1B and 2 at 3B.
Retiring as a player, Boyd was hired by the Boston Red Sox as a scout in 1998. By 2012, he had worked his way up to crosschecker. He has signed Jackie Bradley, Dante Brinkley, Tim Federowicz, Alex Hassan, Chris McGuiness, and Josh Thole.
