The Ballpark at Jackson in Jackson, TN, was the home of Jackson affiliated baseball from 1998 through 2019. After that and the Coronavirus pandemic-canceled 2020 season - which would have included the Southern League All-Star Game - MLB's 2021 Minor League Reorganization eliminated the Jackson Generals of the Southern League.
Without an affiliated team, the city declared the lease in breach and ordered the Generals front office to leave; the city took possession of the stadium on June 7, 2021, and announced November 9th that it had won the ensuing legal dispute.
Opened as Pringles Park in 1998, the ballpark landed the SL's Memphis Chicks - who, having been displaced by Triple-A expansion, became the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The "Pringles" name died when Kellogg bought the Jackson-based potato chip manufacturer and didn't renew the naming contract after the 2011 season.
The Chicks and original Nashville Sounds were born when the Eastern League released two Canadian franchises to the SL in 1977. As the Diamond Jaxx, the club was sold in 2002 and again in 2008. It became the second Jackson Generals in Double-A baseball history in 2011. Seven years later, nearby Jackson State Community College changed its sports nickname from Generals to Green Jays - even though JSCC pre-dated the Jaxx in Jackson by more than 30 years and their use of the name Generals by 44.
The earlier Jackson Generals, a Texas League club, played 1991-1999 in Jackson, Mississippi, have since moved twice and are now the Corpus Christi Hooks. Both teams were named after General Andrew Jackson, who later became President.
The venue has a capacity of 6,000 people.
