Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Pookie Wilson was on the Team USA that won the Bronze in the 1990 Goodwill Games. He hit .333/.375/.467 with five runs in five games in the 1990 Baseball World Cup, backing up Damon Mashore in CF for the US. He played for the Salt Lake City Trappers in 1992 and in the Florida Marlins chain from 1993 to 1997.
Wilson has been a minor league coach since 1999, first as outfield and baserunning coordinator in 1999, and outfield coordinator in 2000 and hitting coach of the Utica Blue Sox in 2001 for the Marlins. He worked as a hitting coach in the Kansas City Royals system from 2002-2004, including the Spokane Indians in 2002 and Idaho Falls Chukars in 2004.
