The Philadelphia Inquirer is one of America's oldest newspapers, started in 1829. Allen Lewis covered baseball for them. Harry Diddlebock and Frank L. Hough, who was simultaneously a minority owner of the Philadelphia Athletics, served as sports editor. Other writers have included Stan Baumgartner, Richard Ben Cramer, Frank Dolson, Lew Freedman, Bill Lyon, Dave Sims, Claire Smith, and Jayson Stark.
