Frank Dolson was a sportswriter. He worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer for 41 years as both a writer and editor. Beginning his career at Sports Illustrated in 1954, Dolson was hired at the Inquirer in 1955. He covered all sports in his first twenty years with the paper. He was on the Phillies beat in 1964, when they made their famous collapse.

In 1975, Dolson was hired by the Philadelphia Bulletin. He returned to the Inquirer a few months later when he was hired as sports editor. He edited the sports page and wrote columns until his retirement in 1995.

After his retirement from the Inquirer, Dolson was hired by George Steinbrenner as a special advisor for the New York Yankees. Dolson served as an advisor and a scout until a heart attack in October 2005.

Fittingly, Dolson died hours after the Yankees were eliminated from the playoffs in 2006. He was suffering from cancer at the time.
