Founded in 2007 as one of the inaugural teams of the Israel Baseball League, The Petach Tikva Pioneers play their home games at Yarkon Sports Complex in Petach Tikva, Israel. The Pioneers share the Yarkon Sports Complex with the Ra'anana Express. The Pioneers were named in reference to the history of the city of Petach Tikva, which was founded in 1878 by religious pioneers from Jerusalem led by Ukranian Rabbi Aryeh Leib Frumkin.

The Petach Tikva Pioneers played their inaugural game against the Modi'in Miracle at Yarkon Sports Complex on June 24, 2007. This game was the inaugural game of the IBL. The Pioneers were defeated by the Miracle, 9-1, in front of a crowd of 3,112 fans. The game was attended by the players and managers of all 6 IBL teams.

Following the Inaugural 2007 IBL season, the Pitach Tikva Pioneers were moved to Jerusalem where the franchise was renamed the Jerusalem Lions
