Pesky's Pole
Pesky's Pole is the name given to the right field foul pole at Fenway Park. It is named after Johnny Pesky, a Red Sox player never known for home run power, who one day hit a home run that struck off the foul pole. Mel Parnell coined the term. At 302 feet from home plate, the foul pole is the shortest distance that a home run can be hit in Major League Baseball.
