Biographical Information[edit]

Pedro Pérez has coached for the Cuban national team in many international tournaments, including the 2000 Olympics, 2004 Olympics and 2008 Olympics. Pedro managed in Cuba, guiding his club to the pennant in 1971-1972.

Pérez began his baseball career in the 1957 New York-Penn League, going 6-7 with a 3.83 ERA for the Wellsville Braves. In 1958, he was 14-12 with a 3.73 ERA for Wellsville. He pitched in the 1958-1959 Cuban Winter League, walking 7 in 6 1/3 IP for Almendares in 3 games, getting no decisions and allowing 3 earned runs. In 1959, the right-hander went 0-2 for the Sanford Greyhounds. He spent 1960 with the Waterloo Hawks, going 12-7 wit a 3.46 ERA. He went 0-2 with a 5.81 ERA for the Johnstown Red Sox.

Following the Cuban revolution, Pedro would spend the remainder of his career in his homeland. He did not pitch again, rather focusing on managing and coaching.
