Biographical Information[edit]

C/1B Pedro Pagés was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 6th round of the 2019 amateur draft out of Florida Atlantic University. He was born in Venezuela but grew up in the Miami, FL area. He made his major league debut in the first days of the 2024 season against his hometown team, the Miami Marlins, having been called up from the minors when starting catcher Willson Contreras was sidelined by an injury in the first week of April. In his first game on April 7th, he pinch-hit for Paul Goldschmidt in the 8th inning of a 10-3 loss, striking out against George Soriano, then took over for Goldschmidt at first base for the final two innings.

He is the second major leaguer named Pedro Pagés; the first Pedro Pagés played in the Negro Leagues in the 1930s and 1940s and is a member of the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame.
