Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Paul Wilson was selected by the New York Mets with the first overall pick in the 1994 amateur draft.

He was 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA for Team USA in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. Starting the Gold Medal game against Cuba, he was no match for Lazaro Valle in a 9-4 loss. He allowed 8 hits, 3 walks and 6 runs (3 earned) in four innings while striking out no one. Wilson was relieved by Danny Graves in the 5th inning.

Alongside Jason Isringhausen and Bill Pulsipher, he was a part of Generation K, the trio of highly touted young New York Mets hurlers of the mid-1990s that never quite panned out.
