Biographical Information[edit]

Paul Wilmet's brother, Steve Wilmet, was a pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers chain in 1969. Paul was in the majors for three games with the 1989 Texas Rangers, at age 30, in a season when Nolan Ryan, Harold Baines, Rafael Palmeiro, Julio Franco, Pete Incaviglia and Ruben Sierra were all on the team.

Paul was born in Green Bay, WI and went to high school in the same state. He moved to Iowa for community college and played nine seasons in the minors. Parts of six seasons were spent in A ball. He was almost always a reliever, getting 29 saves for the 1985 Springfield Cardinals. He was in the minor league organizations of a variety of National League teams, playing in the Rangers organization for less than a year (November 1988 through October 1989).
