Steven L. Wilmet

Steve Wilmet is the brother of Paul Wilmet. He was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the 16th round of the 1968 amateur draft but did not sign. The A's took him in the second round of the January phase of the 1969 amateur draft; he again was unsigned. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Wilmet in the third round of the June part of the 1969 draft and this time, he inked a deal.

Assigned to the Rogue Valley Dodgers, the southpaw went 3-5 with a 3.21 ERA. He struck out 70 in 73 IP, but threw 11 wild pitches and walked 51. Additionally, his RA was 6.41 as he allowed lots of unearned runs. He was only two wild pitches away from leading the Northwest League. Had he qualified (he was six innings short), he would have ranked fifth in ERA. It was his lone season in professional baseball.
