Biographical Information

Paul "Tex" Kardow pitched two innings at the age of 20 for the Cleveland Indians in 1936. He had a long minor league career and managed in the minors in 1939 and 1947.

The book Bob Feller focuses in depth on an exhibition game on July 6 when Feller pitched well against the St. Louis Cardinals and Kardow relieved. The game and Kardow are also mentioned in Bob Feller's Strikeout Story.

Kardow, from Texas, had been expected to sign with the local San Antonio team but Fargo manager Jack Knight convinced both Kardow and another local player, Gerald (Jerry) Feille, to sign with Fargo. On August 26, 1934 Kardow pitched a three-hit shutout for the team and also hit a home run and a double. In 1935, when he struggled, Kardow was sent for a while to a semi-pro league.
