Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Paul Demny has played in the Washington Nationals minor league system since 2008.

He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 15th round of the 2007 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Nationals in the 6th round of the 2008 amateur draft, one pick ahead of outfielder J.B. Shuck, and did sign for a bonus of $110,000.

In his first season, he went 4-0 with a 2.50 ERA in 11 games (6 starts) for the GCL Nationals. In 2009, he struck out 110 batters in 105 innings for the Hagerstown Suns. 2011 was his first 10-win season, as he went 10-10 with a 4.32 ERA in 26 starts for the Potomac Nationals. In 2013, he was an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star, despite being only 7-9 with a 4.86 ERA in 27 games (24 starts) between the Potomac Nationals, Harrisburg Senators and Syracuse Chiefs overall. On May 9, 2013, he pitched the first part of a no-hitter against the Binghamton Mets before being replaced by Ian Krol partway through the game.
