Biographical Information[edit]

Pat McGehee pitched in one game in the majors, on August 23, 1912. He started the game for the Detroit Tigers against the Washington Senators, but after giving up a hit and a walk to the first two batters he faced, he was pulled by manager Hughie Jennings in favor of pitcher Joe Lake, who then pitched the rest of the game and took the loss when the Senators scored three times in the bottom of the 8th inning, winning by the score of 6-4. Pat never got into another major league game. He got no outs in his one game, but on the other hand was not charged with any earned or unearned runs. Teammate Ty Cobb put on a show for Pat, hitting a home run and stealing a base in that game.

Through 2019, Pat is one of three major leaguers born in Meadville, MS. He attended Tulane University during the years 1907-1912, and became the first player from Tulane to come to the majors. He played three years in the minors along with his major league game.

There have been, through 2019, two other major leaguers with the same last name - Casey McGehee and Kevin McGehee, not to mention several players named McGee and McGeehan.
