Biographical information[edit]

Parker Dunshee has pitched with Team USA before making his major league debut in 2024.

Amateur Career[edit]

Parker Dunshee enrolled in Wake Forest University for the 2013-14 academic year and immediately made an impact as a freshman. His 2.17 ERA (min. 2 outings) and 27 games played (which he tied Aaron Fossas with) both led the staff. Dunshee again led the team's staff in ERA in 2015 while transitioning to a starting role (a transition he completed during a dominant run in the Cape Cod League that Summer). Dunshee was dominant again as a Junior, once again leading the staff with a 3.20 ERA (min. 3 IP) while surpassing 100 innings. Dunshee's strong performance, however, did not turn many heads in the scouting community for whatever reason, and he was not selected until the 14th round of the 2016 Amateur Draft by the Chicago Cubs. Parker then chose to return to school instead of signing, eventually slicing his draft round in half, landing with the Oakland Athletics in the 7th round in the 2017 draft. Neil Avent was the scout.

Professional Career[edit]

After entering the A's system, Dunshee flew quickly through the rungs, reaching AAA within the first two months of his second full pro season. Among his feats through his first three seasons - 38 1/3 scoreless innings in the New York-Penn League, MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors in 2018, a 1.97 ERA in AA over parts of two seasons, two mid-season All-Star selections, (New York Penn - 2017 and California - 2018) and four Pitcher of the Week awards.

After a long minor league career, he finally reached the majors with the Atlanta Braves on August 8, 2024, pitching 2 1/3 innings in relief of Charlie Morton in a 16-7 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. He gave up 5 runs on 4 hits, including homers by Jackson Chourio and Trevor Bauer.

International Career[edit]

Following the 2019 season, Dunshee was selected to represent the United States at the 2019 WBSC Premier12 Tournament.
