Biographical Information

Pablo Torrealba had one complete game shutout in his major league career. It came on May 29, 1978 as a member of the Chicago White Sox against the California Angels. He gave up 4 hits, walked 7 and struck out 2. The White Sox won 7-0. He coached for Venezuela in the 1986 Baseball World Cup. He later scouted for the Houston Astros in Venezuela and Colombia, signing Dayan Diaz, Juan Gutierrez and Jhonny Medrano.

On June 15, 1972, while pitching for the Savannah Braves of the Southern League, Torrealba got into a heated argument with umpire Fred Spenn who had called him out on strikes. The exchange degenerated and ended with Torrealba chasing the umpire across the field with his bat, and striking him across the back, breaking the bat in the process. After investigating the incident, Southern League President Billy Hitchcock suspended Pablo for the remainder of the season, and fined both him and Spenn $50 for using abusive language.

He is the father of Steve Torrealba.
