Biographical Information[edit]

In 1989, Orlando Gonzalez played for the Gold Coast Suns of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He hit .331 with 42 RBI as well as playing the most games at first base (70) for the team. In 1990, Gonzalez played for the Daytona Beach Explorers of the SPBA. He was batting .211 in 17 games when the league folded.

He is one of only four players born in Cuba to make their debut in the 1970s, along with Minnie Mendoza, Oscar Zamora, and Bobby Ramos. His 12 runs for Team USA led the FEMBA Amateur World Series in 1973 and the US won the Gold Medal.
