Omaha Crickets

In 1928 the Omaha Buffaloes of the Western League changed names and became the Omaha Crickets. The club from Omaha, NE finished 71-86 and had three All-Stars - 1B Snake Henry (.347, 18 HR), catcher Jack Burns (.314) and pitcher Max Thomas (15-15). Jumbo Brown went 4-3 on the hill, while Pea Ridge Day (17-18) led the league in innings pitched (313), tied for third in strikeouts (126) and was second in losses. Dutch Wetzel (.345, 20 HR) led the Western League with 61 doubles while Clarence Heatherly stole 38 bases, most in the circuit.

The next year the Crickets went 81-75, third in the 8-team league. John McGrew (24-10) tied for the league lead in victories while Brown slipped to 10-17. Bill Windle (.342, 21 HR, 33 SB) led the offense.

In 1930 the team changed names again, becoming the Omaha Packers.
