Biographical Information[edit]
Olmedo Arroba played for the Ecuadorian national team.
He was on Ecuador's team that won the 1966 South American Championship, the country's last title (through 2019). He was named best left fielder in the 1968 South American Championship. He also played in the 1970 Bolivarian Games and 1973 South American Championship. He was named the best baseball player in Ecuador in 1966, 1975 and 1977, finally retiring in 1992.
At the same time he played baseball, he was going to school for medicine, including an internship at Harvard University. He was later an emergency medicine chief and oncology surgeon in Ecuador and was named doctor of the year.
