The Oak Ridge Bombers, representing Oak Ridge, Tennessee, began play in the new Mountain States League in 1948. On June 10th, with a 24-11 record, the team moved to Hazard, Kentucky and became the Hazard Bombers (who went on to finish second in the league that year).
