Oak Ridge, TN
Oak Ridge is located in eastern Tennessee, 25 miles west of Knoxville, TN. The city owns its existence to the US Government's Manhattan Project to develop an atomic bomb, which started in 1942 and created an industrial boomtown (although it was a kept a secret until the end of World War II). The Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the largest research facility in the United States, is located south of the city. Oak Ridge High School and Roane State Community College are both here. Matt Ramsey was born here.
