Northern State of Indiana League

From BR Bullpen

With one of the more unwieldy names in minor league history, the six-team Northern State of Indiana League operated from 1909 through 1911 as a class D loop. Unlike many modern minor leagues, though, the name did aim for geographical accuracy. This was definitely a close knit league. None of the cities represented were more than 75 miles apart and most fell in the 35 to 50 mile category. In later years these same cities formed many amatuer and semi-pro loops that were popular in the depression years.

In 1910, games prior to July 1 were not counted. Bluffton and Marion joined the league July 2. In 1911, Logansport moved to Anderson July 2, then disbanded July 28, forcing Bluffton to withdraw. The league folded July 29.
