Biographical Information[edit]
The younger brother of Yoshiyuki Iwamoto, Nobukazu Iwamoto made his professional debut with the 1947 Nankai Hawks, going 2-2 with a 0.95 ERA, then was 8-4, 2.08, which would have placed him 5th in the Japan Baseball League in ERA had he pitched enough innings to qualify.
In 1949, Iwamoto imploded and was only 3-5, 7.31. Moving to the Taiyo Whales the next year, he was nearly as bad at 7-9, 6.75 with 143 hits and 21 homers allowed in 104 innings. In his final season, Nobukazu went 4-5, 5.86 for the Shochiku Robins. Overall, his record was 24-25 with a 4.80 ERA in five seasons of work.
After retiring, he became an umpire in the Pacific League.
