Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Nick Green was a 7th round selection in the 2014 amateur draft by the Texas Rangers out of a junior college in Iowa. The scout was Dustin Smith. He began his pro career with the AZL Rangers that year, going 4-3, 3.83 in 14 games as a swingman. In 2015, he moved up to the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League but was 0-3 with a bloated 7.11 ERA. He returned to Spokane in 2016 and was doing better, as he was 2-2, 4.98 in 7 games, when on August 1st he was traded to the New York Yankees along with Dillon Tate and Erik Swanson in return for major league OF Carlos Beltran. The Yankees were well aware of him, having drafted him in the 35th round of the 2013 amateur draft, but he had not signed with them at the time.
