Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Nellie Rodriguez was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 15th round of the 2012 amateur draft. The scout was Brent Urcheck.

Though a Mid-Season All-Star in 2013, Rodriguez broke out in 2014. That year, he hit 22 home runs with 88 RBI in 130 games for the Lake County Captains, being named a Baseball America Low Class A All-Star and a Player of the Week. With 21 home runs and 98 RBI in 2015, he was a Mid- and Post-Season All-Star, a MiLB.com Organization All-Star and the Carolina League Player of the Year. He slugged 26 home runs with 85 RBI in 2016 to again be named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star and a Mid-Season All-Star.

Not known for his speed, he did not steal a base until his fourth professional season, and then he only stole one base.
