Biographical Information[edit]

Texas native Neal Baker spent six active seasons in professional baseball from 1927 to 1936. He spent one month in the bigs with the 1927 Philadelphia Athletics, appearing in five games, 17 1/3 innings, with no decisions. Baker built a 61-58 record in the minors while pitching 1,040 innings in 169 games. His best numbers came in his final season when he went 17-10 with a 1.04 ERA in 30 appearances for the 1936 Longview Cannibals of the Class C East Texas League. Neal died at the age of 77 on January 5, 1982 at his home in Houston.
