Minor league pitcher Nate Puryear was the cousin of Jim "Mudcat" Grant and Julious Grant and is thus related to Domonic Brown as well. Puryear was drafted in the 1st round of the January 1976 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox. He didn't sign and was drafted in the 2nd round of the secondary phase of the June 1976 draft by the Cleveland Indians. He pitched in AAA in 1978-1979 and 1981, but missed all of 1980 with an injury. Puryear never made the majors.
