Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Nate Long played in the Oakland Athletics system from 2009 to 2015. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2012.

Long was taken by the Athletics in the 26th round of the 2009 amateur draft (the scout was Armann Brown) and began his professional career at 23 years old. In 2010, his second campaign, he was 8-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 15 starts. In his first taste of Triple A, in 2012, he allowed five earned runs in one inning for the Sacramento River Cats. In 2014, he had perhaps the best season of his career, going 13-8 with a 3.18 ERA in 28 games (25 starts).

He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2014 and 2015 and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2014.

Overall, he was 44-35 with a 4.02 ERA in 187 games (89 starts) in the minors. Going to Taiwan in 2016, he was 11-3 with a 4.62 ERA for the Chinatrust Brothers, tying Bruce Billings for third in wins.
