Biographical Information

Nat Bailey is a member of the Canadian Hall of Fame.

Bailey was born in St. Paul, MN and moved to Vancouver, BC as a child. He did many jobs around the Vancouver ballpark, including announcing and selling concessions. He opened the first drive-in restaurant in Canada in 1928 and used some of the funds to support Little League clubs. He bought the Vancouver Mounties in the 1950s. After the Mounties ceased play after 1969, he helped bring minor league baseball back to Vancouver with the 1978 Vancouver Canadians. When he died, the Vancouver stadium was renamed Nat Bailey Stadium in his honor. He was posthumously inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013 in a class with outfielders Tim Raines, George Bell and Rob Ducey and announcer Tom Cheek.
