Biographical Information[edit]
Naoya Washiya was drafted in 2009.
Washiya helped his high school to a national Koshien Tournament title in 2005, when he was a teammate of Masahiro Tanaka. He came to the US for college baseball. As a sophomore, he hit .274 with 17 steals. The Washington Nationals chose him in the 14th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He made his pro debut on July 1 for the GCL Nationals, going 0 for 3 against the GCL Mets.
