Biographical Information

Outfielder Eduardo Reyes played in the minor leagues from 1942 to 1956. He was on the Mexican national team that won Silver in the 1943 Amateur World Series. Until 1951, he played in the Mexican League, the first five seasons with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, before moving to the Industriales de Monterrey in 1947 and 1948 and the Tuneros de San Luis Potosi in 1949 and 1950. His final season in la Liga was split between the Red Devils and the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo. He then resumed his career at age 37 in 1955, spending a couple of seasons as a player-manager in the Central Mexican League with the Mineros de Fresnillo. He hit .262/.300/.335, with 11 homers in 676 games.

His first few seasons with the Diablos Rojos coincided with one of the most famous periods in league history, when big money from Jorge Pasquel attracted big league and Negro League talent to Mexico. His two seasons in Monterrey were championship years for the Industriales. In the highlight of his career on April 30, 1949, he became the first player in Mexican League history to hit four doubles in one game, in a game in which he went 6-for-6 against Nuevo Laredo.
