Moegamat-Zaid Hendricks was on the South African national team in the 2006 World Baseball Classic at age 17 but did not play in the event. He was also in the 2006 World Junior Championship. In the 2007 Baseball World Cup, Hendricks was 1 for 11 with 7 strikeouts. He backed up Ashley Scott at third base and Gavin Ray in left, handling 8 chances without an error. In the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, Moegamat-Zaid hit .208/.208/.250 with 10 strikeouts in 24 AB and was caught stealing in both of his attempts. He handled 14 chances in center field without one miscue as South Africa's starter there. He was one of the better contact hitters on a squad that batted .167 overall. He wass on the South African roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He had one at-bat in the Classic, pinch-hitting for Martin Gordon and striking out against Joakim Soria.
