Miyakojima, Okinawa

Miyakojima is an island city closer to Taiwan and China than most of Japan. It was the spring training site of the Orix Buffaloes in 2010. Hiroya Kawamitsu was born here. Miyako Sogo Jitsugyo High School is here. Orix outfielder Hiroyuki Oze died here during spring training that year in an apparent suicide.
