Biographical Information

Infielder Milt Ramírez played briefly in the majors with the St. Louis Cardinals and Oakland Athletics.

Originally signed by the Baltimore Orioles, Ramirez made his pro debut with the Bluefield Orioles in 1968 and led Appalachian League second baseman in assists, putouts, and errors. He then repeated the feat at shortstop in the Northern League with the Aberdeen Pheasants in 1969.

After two seasons in the minors, Ramirez was taken by the Cardinals in the 1969 Rule V Draft. The 20-year-old spent all of the 1970 campaign with St. Louis but played rather sparingly, primarily backing up Dal Maxvill at shortstop and hitting .190 in 62 games. He made 4 appearances for the Cards in 1971 but spent most of the summer with the Arkansas Travelers of the Dixie Association.

Following the 1972 campaign, Ramirez was traded to the Houston Astros in a four-player deal. He spent one year in the Astros organization and one year in the Los Angeles Dodgers chain before spending 1975 with the Reynosa Bravos of the Mexican League. He then came back to the U.S. and played a year in the Kansas City Royals system. He joined the Oakland A's organization in 1977 and returned to the majors in 1979, appearing in 28 games for Oakland. Back in the minors in 1980, he finished his career in the Mexican League in 1981.
