Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Wilson was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the second round of the 2001 Amateur Draft out of high school. He had hit .265 with six runs for the US team that won Silver in the 2000 World Junior Championship. He had been recruited as a five-star college football prospect to the University of Oklahoma as a fullback and linebacker, but was signed by scout Mark Lummus for $900,000 on June 16th. He then spent 9+ seasons in the Mariners' minor league system before making his major league debut on May 10, 2011. In that game, he threw out the potential winning run at home plate in the bottom of the 9th inning, sending the game into extra frames. In the top of the 13th inning, his first major league hit - a broken bat single off Jeremy Accardo - drove in the go-ahead run. The M's wound up losing that game in the bottom half of that same inning.
