Michael Spiers

Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Spiers coached at the amateur level for many years, working with Allen Craig, Xavier Paul, Anthony Rizzo, Tommy Hanson and Josh Satin among others. He coached for the USA in the 1997 World Youth Championship and for their Youth team in 2008. He was head coach of the Ecuadorian national team for six years, including the 2001 Bolivarian Games and a Bronze medal in the 2005 South American Championship. He was a scout for the Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves, signing Alfredo Venegas. His son Joe Spiers (also known as Mike) played in the minors.
