Biographical Information[edit]
Mike O'Rourke appeared in eight games as a pitcher and outfielder for the Baltimore Orioles in 1890. The Orioles left the major-league American Association during the season that year and then, after playing in another league, returned to play some more in the American Association. O'Rourke was with them the second time around.
O'Rourke made his major league debut on September 1st (the Orioles had returned to the American Association on August 27th). As a pitcher, he was in five games with a 3.95 ERA (the team ERA was 4.00). He also played three games in the outfield.
O'Rourke had been with the Orioles when they were in the Atlantic Association during the summer before they rejoined the majors. He pitched a night game in Hartford, according to The Night That the Lights Went On in Hartford.
