Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Morrow, after graduation from the University of California, Berkeley, played one year of minor league ball before becoming a baseball coach. He was a pitcher for the Decatur Commodores of the Three-I League in 1923.
Morrow coached San Diego High School from 1926-1950, winning 14 Southern California titles. He had his integrated team sleep in the Long Beach Poly gym if the local hotel wouldn't let his black players appear. He then coached San Diego City College. He later was 82-64-1 as head coach of the University of San Diego from 1958-1963. He helped develop Jim Wilson, Jack Harshman, Solly Hemus, Duane Pillette, John Ritchey and Bob Usher.
