Biographical Information[edit]

Before starting his coaching career, Mike Habas played college ball at the three schools noted above. There is no definitive account of his early coaching years, so the following is drawn from his LinkedIn page and Gary SouthShore RailCats biography which are linked below.

From 2016-2018 Habas worked as an assistant coach for the Olive-Harvey College Panthers and as the freshman head coach at his alma mater Homewood-Flossmoor High School. In October of 2018 Habas was named head coach of the Prairie State College Pioneers, but left the program for "greener pastures" in April 2019. In addition to his high school and college coaching responsibilities, Habas served as the first base coach for the RailCats in 2017 before a promotion to third base coach in 2018. He was scheduled to be the RailCats hitting coach in 2019 before his departure for professional baseball.

In April 2019 Habas joined the Milwaukee Brewers organization and was the hitting coach for the DSL Brewers. He was scheduled for the same role with a joint Brewers/Blue Jays DSL team in 2020 before COVID-19 shut down the minor league season. Habas was hitting coach of the DSL Brewers 2 in 2021, ACL Brewers Gold in 2022, and ACL Brewers in 2023.
