Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Dufek made his pro debut in 2010. He comes from an athletic family. His grandfather Don Dufek Sr. was Rose Bowl MVP in 1949. His father Jake Dufek and two uncles played in the NFL, his father serving as Buffalo Bills quarterback.

High School[edit]

Mike hit .420 as a high school junior while going 4-1 with a 3.99 ERA, then was 6-0 with a 3.27 ERA as a senior; he batted .470 with nine homers and 42 RBI. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays took him in the 41st round of the 2006 amateur draft.

Collegiate[edit]

As a junior at Michigan, he hit .304/.374/.627 with 59 RBI in 55 games; he was 1-1 with three saves, a 2.70 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings. He hit 17 home runs, tied for third in school history. He made All-Big Ten Conference at first base. His senior season, he batted .339/.371/.528 with 57 RBI in 57 games. His 24 doubles were second-most in school annals. He finished 11th in Michigan history with 26 career homers and 6th with fifty doubles.

Normal CornBelters (Frontier League)[edit]

Mike signed with the Normal CornBelters on June 20, 2010.

Dufek made his first CornBelter appearance as the designated hitter on June 22 against the Florence Freedom. Mike went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs to propel the Belters to a 5-1 win.

Dufek belted his first homer of the season on July 26 against the Gateway Grizzlies. He finished the season with 5 dingers.

Mike ended the 2010 season hitting .251 with 29 RBIs and 5 home runs.
