Mike Colla is a minor league pitcher.
Colla was a two-time All-State player in high school and was named Fresno Pitcher of the Year as a senior after going 12-2 with a 1.14 ERA. In 2004, he had thrown the first no-hitter in the Central Coast high school championship game. Overall, he won 34 games in high school. The Houston Astros took him in the 38th round of the 2004 amateur draft.
Colla signed on with the University of Arizona but struggled as a freshman, going 0-1 with a 8.32 ERA in 20 games. He improved to 3-3 with a 5.20 ERA as a sophomore in 2007. His junior year, he had a 4-2, 5.16 record. The Pittsburgh Pirates chose him in the 14th round of the 2008 amateur draft.
Colla made his pro debut with the 2008 State College Spikes, allowing 11 runs on 10 walks and 7 hits in only 3 1/3 IP, going 0-1. He is with the 2009 Lynchburg Hillcats, starting off 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA after 8 games.
