Biographical Information[edit]

Reliever Mike Broadway made 25 big league appearances out of the bullpen of the San Francisco Giants.

He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 4th round of the 2005 amateur draft, just after Josh Bell and a couple of slots ahead of Lance Pendleton and was signed by scout Terry Tripp Jr. He was 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 7 games as a rookie for the GCL Braves. With the 2006 Danville Braves, he had a 4-0, 3.25 record. He went 11-6 with a 5.25 ERA for the 2007 Rome Braves, allowing a .314 average. He tied for 10th in the South Atlantic League in wins and tied for the third-most wins in the Braves chain, one behind Moises Hernandez and Jo-Jo Reyes. He split 2008 between Rome (0-3, 4.96) and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (2-2, 2 saves, 3.40). In 2009, he was with Myrtle Beach (2-7, 4.50) and the Mississippi Braves (2 unearned runs in 9 innings). He pitched in 2010 for Mississippi (1-1, a save, 3.45 in 23 games) and the Gwinnett Braves (4-0, 5.73 in 17 games), fanning 57 in 53 1/3 innings. He barely pitched for Mississippi in 2011 (1-0, an earned run in 5 innings). At season's end, he became a minor league free agent.

He signed with the San Diego Padres for 2012 (0-2, 6.35 for the San Antonio Missions) and pitched in the Washington Nationals system in 2013, going 2-1 with 6 saves and a 2.45 ERA in 30 relief appearances for the Harrisburg Senators (1-0, 2.70 in 12 games) and Syracuse Chiefs (1-1, 6 saves, 2.28 in 18 games). He signed with the San Francisco Giants in 2014, making 8 minor league appearances during an injury marred year. In 2015, he crushed it in Triple A, pitching to a 2-0, 0.93 mark with a 0.68 WHIP and an 8/64 BB/K ratio in 48 1/3 innings; all of this with the Fresno Grizzlies of the notoriously hitter friendly Pacific Coast League. This lights out pitching earned him his first big league call up, where he was not quite as tight as Fresno. In 21 games, he pitched to an 0-2, 5.19 record in 17 1/3 innings. He made his way back to San Francisco in 2016, with an ERA in excess of 11 in 4 appearances and a less exciting 0-3, 3.94 mark in Fresno. He was designated for assignment on the Fourth of July and ended up sold to the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, finishing the season there with a 4.50 ERA in brief action. Beginning in 2017, Mike saw action in the minor league chains of the Nationals, Kansas City Royals and two separate stints within the Tampa Bay Rays system. He was posting some solid numbers for the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League in 2019 when he abruptly retired on July 19.
