Biographical Information[edit]

Miguel Vargas pitched in the Spanish Division Honor in 2013, going 4-6 with a 3.28 ERA for the Astros Valencia and striking out 91 in 90 2/3 IP. He was 5th in the league with a .198 opponent average (between Leslie Nacar and Jorge Balboa), 8th in innings, 10th in strikeouts and tied for 4th in losses. [1]

In the 2017 Bolivarian Games, he pitched for the Venezuelan national team. [2] He pitched twice. Relieving Carlos Parra in the 6th with a 5-0 lead over El Salvador, he allowed one hit and struck out one in one shutout inning; Josmar Carreño took over. Versus Panama, with a spot in the Gold Medal Game at stake, he relieved Robert Palencia (who had also played in Europe) with a 3-0 deficit in the 7th and allowed two hits while getting two outs then Leovildo Pargas came in; Venezuela lost, 3-0. They wound up with a Bronze. [3]
