Biographical Information[edit]

Miguel Erroz played for the Spanish national team for over a decade. His brother Jesus Erroz also played for Spain at times.

Erroz just missed the 1992 Olympics, debuting with the Spanish squad the next year. He went 0 for 13 with 9 strikeouts as the Spanish 2B in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. He struck out (against Mikael Aho) in his lone at-bat in the 1993 European Championship and made an error in his only chance at 2B, where he backed up Miguel Pariente. He went 2 for 13 with two walks in the 1995 European Championship. In the 1997 Intercontinental Cup, he was 0 for 12 and made four errors in five games at third base. Erroz had 3 hits in 13 at-bats and walked once in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, splitting 2B duties for Spain. Rotating between second and third base in the 1999 European Championship, Erroz was 5 for 20 with a double. In the 2001 European Championship, Miguel hit .235/.270/.265 and stole 2 bases in 3 tries.

Erroz was 5 for 20 with a run and a RBI in the 2003 European Championship. In the 2004 Division de Honor season, Erroz hit .420/.532/.500 for Irabia. He was 4th in the league in average. The Division de Honor website lists him as leading in OBP, though oddly, it lists both Xavier Civit and Jose Luis Riera with slightly higher OBPs.

He hit .211/.360/.263 with six runs in eight games in the 2005 European Championship, fielding .778 at 3B and handling five putouts in the outfield. He sat out the Silver Medal Game, which Spain won. During the 2005 Baseball World Cup, he batted .333/.368/.389 while playing primarily left field.

He coached for Spain in the 2007 Baseball World Cup, 2007 European Championship, 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, 2009 Baseball World Cup and 2010 European Championship. He also managed the Spanish under-21 team to a Gold Medal in the 2008 European under-21 championship, winning him the CEB Coach of the Year Award.

Erroz has managed the Baseball Navarre team in Division de Honor as well.
