Miguel Corral of the Mexican national team tied for the 1948 Amateur World Series lead with 12 hits (even with Manuel Cáceres and Luis Morales) and led with three dingers. His .414 average was 7th, between Ernesto Chamorro and Eduardo Green. He also won Silver in the 1950 Central American and Caribbean Games.
