Team History[edit]

The Midwest Sliders were created when, after one season of existence, the Slippery Rock Sliders of the Frontier League folded in early 2008. The league needed a 12th team to balance its schedule and turned what remained of the Sliders into a road team for the 2008 season. Not surprisingly, the team was not at all competitive and finished in last place, 10 games behind the next-worst teams, setting a league record for losses in the process. The franchise was then sold to investors based in Waterford, MI in order to turn it once again a regular team. However, in the absence of a stadium, the new owners placed the team in Ypsilanti, MI for the 2009 season, using the baseball stadium of Eastern Michigan University.

In 2010, the team moved into its new premises and became the Oakland County Cruisers.
