Biographical Information

Left-hander Mickey McGowan spent eight active seasons in professional baseball from 1940 to 1950.

He served in the South Pacific in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945 during World War II.

McGowan spent ten days in the major leagues with the New York Giants from April 22, to May 1, 1948. He appeared in three games, giving up three hits and three runs and he pitched three and two-thirds innings, with no decisions.

Mickey spent the balance of his eight seasons in the minor leagues and had five double-digit winning seasons - 1940, 1941, 1942, 1946 and 1947. His best record came in 1946 with the Atlanta Crackers of the Southern Association, when he went 22-10 with a 2.80 ERA while pitching 257 innings.

McGowan left baseball in 1950 with a minor league career record of 86-59, appearing in 209 games and 1,221 innings.

Tullis Earl McGowan died on March 8, 2003 in Waycross, GA. He was 81 years of age.
