Biographical Information[edit]

Minor leaguer Michael Griffin played in the Cincinnati Reds system from 2005 to 2012. He was the club's 14th round pick in the 2005 amateur draft, taken two picks after outfielder Casper Wells. He was signed by scout Brian Wilson. The ballplayer reached Triple A in just his second professional season, if only for a game, and spent all or part of four other years at that level. Defensively versatile, he played at second base, third base, left field and center field. He converted to pitching for his final season after taking the mound a few times in previous seasons, making 41 relief appearances.

Overall, Griffin batted .265/.302/.387 with 33 home runs, 227 RBI and 47 stolen bases in 715 minor league games. On the mound, he was 3-5 with a 5.60 mark in 46 appearances, striking out 59, while walking 45, in 53 innings.

He was a member of the United States national team that played in the 2003 Pan American Games.
