Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Wilson was a minor league player and scout.

The Cincinnati Reds took Wilson in the 33rd round of the 1994 amateur draft. He hit .290/.405/.395 that summer for the Billings Mustangs, while fielding .913 as a utility infielder. Among those he backed up were Aaron Boone (3B) and James Lofton (2B). He bounced around in 1995, playing for Billings (.287/.386/.364 in 62 G, .920 FLD as their main shortstop), the Charleston AlleyCats (4 for 13, 2B) and the Winston-Salem Warthogs (.224/.308/.345 in 20 G). He ended his playing career with the '96 AlleyCats, posting a .205/.301/.251 line and tossing 3 shutout innings. He fielded .924 at short, his main spot. He had batted .248/.346/.320 in 237 minor league games, with 98 runs and 89 RBI. He stole 26 bases in 44 tries and fielded .924.

Wilson then scouted for Cincinnati. He signed Jay Bruce, Drew Stubbs, Logan Ondrusek and Sam LeCure.

At age 33, Wilson died while working on a farm he owned.
